What has helped me in my understanding of the Holy Bible is learning how the Old and New Testament both bring forth God's written word/truth to those who believe in Him.

Whenever I see or hear someone someone start a discussion with what God hates, over what He loves, I know that person has an agenda. First off we are told in John 3:16-17
I was watching a video last night about the Creation Museum. The video showed a scientist who visited the museum and after taking a tour, tracked down one of the scientists that worked there. They had a chat and the visiting scientist asked the creation museum scientist how he c …

Peace Blessing,
Thank you for your sweet note and teaching me how to find it! lol I too am feeling disdain toward Ndeepnow and don't feel good about it. It breaks my heart when I run into those like him. (even though I've never run into one that bad before) It saddens me when I see others turned off by our faith because they think what he says is what we're about. We're so far from it but some don't know enough about it to know the difference. He, himself, I'm not worried about because even though I think he completely doesn't understand, I do think he's truly a believer. From what I've learned about him is that he was a severe alcoholic and what he believes has helped him stay away from it. That's a good thing but his mission is so far off bass that he's keeping some from being able to see Christ as loving and good. I want to just sew his mouth shut! lol
You're in my prayers and I too am grateful for yours!
Love,
Becky
Hi Peace!
Sorry, I don't know what happened. I couldn't see your post on my newsvine page, I eventually figured out I had to click on "edit content" to be able to see it. But if you hadn't told me you PM'd me, I never would have known :).I greatly enjoy reading your posts. You are a very thoughtful, intelligent person of faith and I respect that. There need to be more people like you in the discussions on religion that abound on newsvine. I look forward to good discussions that we will have in the future :).

PeaceBlessing, from your message to me:
"I also know that there is a difference between not believing/knowing God yet allowing others to believe/know as they choose and not believing/knowing God and finding fault with any and everything associated with God because you just don't know/believe for yourself for whatever reason."
I am curious - what do you think of homosexuals? I am heterosexual, but I have absolutely no reason to have intolerance for homosexuals. Even if I think that what they are doing is gross, I have no reason to think any less of them than I would of people who eat brussel sprouts, which I do think are gross. However, a zealot will refer to scripture passages that give them a free pass to denegrate the alternative lifestyle, and use hick expressions like "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." On this issue, which of us is showing more love for thy neighbor? Don't you find it rather odd that a non-believer can come across as a better example of the golden rule than a believer? I have an aunt that everyone suspected was gay in her formative years. Growing up in a Christian household, she was a bitter, wretched person. Once she got the courage to come out, all that changed. Now she is a pleasant person whose bitterness has all melted away, and people are happy to be her friend, relative, etc. It was all related to her being shackled up inside because she knew the truth about her was very much against what she had been brought up to believe was God's plan. Speaking out against "God's plan" is an act that promotes loving thy neighbor in this instance.
Again, from your comments to me:
"God tells all one needs to know in His written word, even if one does not believe it, one cannot claim later that God has not foretold exactly what He expects from those He created. Therefore, you cannot claim that God didn't give you proof, you can only say that you didn't believe or accept the way He chose to share it."
Are you familiar with the life story of Bart Ehrman? He is a very intelligent former evangelical, with degrees in theology from prestigious universities. He is also fluent in Greek. After many years in theology, he decided that he wanted to delve deeper in his faith by studying the original scriptures, as opposed to the various version of the bible, etc. that are used today. Because of his knowledge of the Greek language he was very well suited for this. What he found was that the original scriptures bore little resemblance to the translations of today. Not only were they loaded with misspellings and improper grammar, but they had been purposely translated incorrectly in thousands of places, and they had been added to throughout time by scribes other than the original author. According to Dr. Ehrman, there are more discrepancies in the current translations than there are alphbetic characters in the original work! The meaning of the original work has been completely lost in what we now know of as scripture. It has been massaged to suit different agendas throughout history. In light of this, unless you have translated the original scriptures from the Greek language yourself, your "proof" is nothing but a manmade doctrine to support specific agendas. Dr. Ehrman is now an agnostic author that does many public speaking engagements throught the world. He went from as close as you can get to God (with current biblical writings as his catylist), to eventually having no faith whatsoever in that God, all because of the influence that man had intentionally inflicted on the original works. You should read his story for yourself - it was the most interesting thing I have read in a long time.
I see that you have stated that you do not believe in hell as a firey doom, and that just being without God is hell in itself. I am without him now, and I couldn't be happier. However, your New Testatment does talk of Jesus describing hell in a manner that it is commonly thought of as today, did he not? Why do you cherry pick the bible for what you like and discard the rest? in doing so, how can you refer to it as "proof" about what God has so clearly presented to us?
PeaceBlessing, I think your faith is beautiful....as are you!
G-d bless! MM:-)
Thanks for ur comment to Becky, it's amazing how some of us have tunnel vision and can't see pass our own ignorance. U seems to be a person deeply rooted and devoted to our savior. I admire that and pray for this nation. It's always an honor to hear from a wise person.
Good comments!

Hi PeaceBlessing, this is what I meant - we can have a conversation in this manner if you like.

peaceblessing, I realize that what I say can be confusing, but back in biblical times, the lifestyle of homosexuals, as we know it today, (Loving relationships) was little known. Homosexuality, as we know it, goes against the command to procreate. However, the scriptures of Genesis 19 and Judges 19 paint a different picture. It is a picture of violent sex acts.
What is most important is that God gave us choice; life or death; blessing or curse. He really wants us to Choose Life! However, as a good father, he allows us to make our own choices.
I have many Bibles here and I have Strong's as well. Somewhere along my journey, I realized that I was only studying Christian Bibles. So I bought myself The Five books of Moses by Robert Alter and then the Jewish Study Bible. Doing this has increased my understanding. How can I understand the NT if I do not understand the OT?
Thank-you, Many People in America say they are Cristian's or believe in god and even attend church but their actions and thoughts are filled with envy, hate, greed, lust, and ignorance to their fellow man. Some even bring these actions inside their place of worship so that they can infect his children and destroy his house. I have read the bible myself, I am not well versed, but I feel I understand what god has asked of me. As for the article, it just shows the greed, corruption, and hate that seems to be growing like a cancer in America. You have people in government stealing and trying to hide their tracks in large amounts of paperwork, people greedily taking way more than they deserve with no thought of other Katrina victims and the kind people who gave them a hand in a time of need, the racial ignorance and intolerance of many, and finally the people who feel they deserve a handout though they do nothing to help themselves or there fellow man. In my heart and soul I feel I should not judge them, I should just do what is right and let God judge those that have sinned. If you base charity and kindness for all on the actions of a few you never end up helping anyone, even those who deserve it.
It was greed and political corruption that caused the levees to break in the first place. We should prove in our kind thoughts and charitable actions that we are better than those that worship gold and contempt.
